The Special Advisor to the CEO of BMO Financial Group and Chancellor of the University of Toronto shared her insights in a discussion of her new book, Intentional Leadership: The Big 8 Capabilities Setting Leaders Apart.

Drawing on research with nearly 1,000 leaders from a range of sectors, Rose M. Patten outlined the abilities that every leader needs to build highly successful teams. 

“These skills address the human side of leading,” she said. “All eight move you from ‘command and control’ to ‘connect and collaborate’ – because that’s what people are looking for. They want to understand the ‘why’ of things, not just the order or the decision.”
