Ideas participants

IDEAS helped me realize that although I am only one person, with drive and knowledge I have the power to change the world.” – 2014 IDEAS Participant

Do you have good memories of your time at the University of Waterloo — the professors who helped you see the world differently, the lifelong friends you made, the geese? Share your UWaterloo experience with the next generation of young adults by inviting them to IDEAS Summer Experience.

IDEAS is a two-week summer enrichment program for students in Grades 10 and 11. Combining Waterloo’s innovative spirit and a multidisciplinary, experiential teaching approach, IDEAS enables youth to develop their big ideas.

“IDEAS participants will work together to solve some of the world’s biggest problems — like childhood obesity or the Digital Divide,” says Julie Hummel, Director of Communications in Waterloo International, which hosts IDEAS.

Under the mentorship of professors and campus leaders, IDEAS participants will have access to some of Waterloo’s best facilities. From July 12 – July 26, participants will live on campus, meet students from around the world, and explore popular Canadian landmarks including Niagara Falls.
