The Journey to Convocation of a #UWaterlooGrad

Shivana outside of the Davis Center

"Hello everyone, I’m Shivani Tyagi and I recently graduated from the 2016 class of Mechatronics Engineering, and currently I’m sitting in the heart of the university, at the Student Life Center.

My Story as a UWaterloo Australian Global Ambassador

It is International Education Week (IEW). The University of Waterloo celebrates IEW with more than 100 countries around the world. When graduating from Waterloo, never in a million years would I have predicted that I would be writing an UWaterloo article from Australia.

From Formulas and Equations to a Rural Nicaraguan Village: Lessons from a UWaterloo Math Alumna

It’s been almost 10 years since I graduated from the BMath program. On graduation day, if you had asked me where I saw myself in the future, “living in a rural village in Nicaragua” would not have been my answer.  But yes, even out here, everything I need to know I learned from UWaterloo Math.

Invite young innovators to experience Waterloo

IDEAS helped me realize that although I am only one person, with drive and knowledge I have the power to change the world.” – 2014 IDEAS Participant

Alumni Shanghai Chapter Annual Event - Entrepreneurship

The annual event of the University of Waterloo Alumni Shanghai Chapter was held on December 7, 2014. The theme was “Entrepreneurship." As UWaterloo is an incubator for innovations, we aimed to provide a platform for entrepreneurs to present their ventures and business ideas. There are alumni in the venture capital industry as well, so it was an opportunity for UWaterloo entrepreneurs and investors to connect.

My Journey from Waterloo to Medical School

After graduating from the University of Waterloo with a major in Honours Science in 2013, I decided to do something that really frightened me – I decided to take a year off. After being in school in succession for 16 years, this seemed like the worst idea possible. To be honest, I was slightly ashamed about telling my family and friends about it.

Reunion with International Alumni

In my role with Alumni Relations as the Alumni Officer, International, I have the privilege of working with University of Waterloo alumni around the world.  I witness first-hand the tremendous impact our grads are having not only here in Canada but across the globe too and I am consistently inspired by their talent and tenacity.

uWaterloo Alumni Chapter events in Asia

From Nov. 2-11th I had the opportunity to travel to Asia with the Director of Alumni Affairs, Jason Coolman, and an amazing team of staff from across campus. We hosted a total of four Alumni events in Asia, with each one being unique to the host city and the alumni in the area!
