On Thursday, June 29, 2023, the University of Waterloo community will come together to acknowledge the trauma we endured yesterday and support each other at this difficult time.
Black and Indigenous scholars will have new opportunities to advance their research thanks to a commitment of $388,000 to expand the prestigious AMTD Waterloo Global Talent Postdoctoral Fellowship Program.
Established by Dr. Calvin Choi (BA ’01, LLD ’21) and the AMTD Charity Foundation in 2019, the $3.4 million program supports emerging global leaders whose research has the potential to dramatically improve society and contribute positively to the world. The fellowship includes a $75,000 annual salary, plus additional funds to engage with communities inside and outside of academia.
This past weekend, more than 1,000 people flooded the University of Waterloo campus to meet with old friends, celebrate milestone anniversaries and see how our institution has changed. The weekend included multiple events, hosted by Alumni Relations, Faculties, Schools, University Colleges and alumni volunteers.
Since 1975, Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest has recognized the achievements of hundreds of local women with the K-W Oktoberfest Rogers Women of the Year Awards. In 2023, multiple University of Waterloo alumni and students were nominated as exceptional women in our community. Two alumni and two current students were among the award recipients.
