Research Interests
I am deeply interested in understanding the relation between the self and the environments. Specifically, I investigate how attitudes, individual differences, and motivations influence one’s interaction with other people and the physical and natural environment. My current research focuses on three areas:
1) Cooperation: How do people differ in their behaviours when self-interests conflict with collective welfare? What psychological factors may explain individual differences in cooperation?
2) Human and climate change: Do air pollutants impact attention, memory, and decision-making? How to mobilize people to behave pro-environmentally via effective climate change communication?
3) Intolerance on the Internet: Why do people with inflated self-views (i.e., narcissists) express more hostility and dismissiveness toward people who hold differing opinions? How to mitigate intolerance and aggression on the Internet? Overall, my research integrates theories and methodologies in psychology and economics, which seeks solutions to real-life problems.
