Biomedical Engineering Seminar with Dr. Thomas Willett

Thursday, June 18, 2026 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

Biomedical Engineering graduate research seminar with Dr. Thomas Willett

Professor Thomas Willett is an associate professor in the Department of Systems Design Engineering. He is the Director of the Waterloo Composite Biomaterial Systems Lab

His research interests concern the mechanics and engineering of skeletal biomaterials and tissues. He specializes in:

1) Bone Tissue Mechanics - developing improved understanding of the mechanisms that determine the mechanical behaviour and failure of bone and how collagen modifications due to ageing, disease, irradiation, and other causes alter these mechanisms and the mechanical behaviour of the tissue.

2) Engineering of bone-inspired materials for skeletal reconstruction

Abstract
