All UW students and employees must complete mandatory health and safety training. Several important requirements are summarized below. Additional information is provided by the Safety Office.
MASc and PhD Students
MASc and PhD students must complete the following training within the first 4 weeks of their first term of enrolment, and before they are provided with keys/fobs to access offices/laboratories as applicable:
Your supervisor may require you to complete additional safety training depending on the nature of your research and specific lab requirements.
Please refer to your home department of your supervisor for their health and safety resources.
All graduate students must complete the Graduate Academic Integrity Module (AIM) within the first 8 weeks of their program. Information can be found here.
Students interested in teaching assistantships must complete the Faculty of Engineering’s ExpecTAtions training course before they can hold a position. This training is offered once per term. PhD students who are required to hold a TA position in their first year must complete this in their first term.
