As with all engineering undergraduate programs in Canada, the Biomedical Engineering program will undergo an accreditation process, administered by Engineers Canada through the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB) as soon as permitted. Successful accreditation confirms that the program meets the high standard of education required for graduates to be licensed as Professional Engineers.

Waterloo Engineering has introduced and gained accreditation for four new programs in recent years (Software, Mechatronics, Management, and Nanotechnology), experiencing no issues with the process. The Biomedical Engineering program has already undergone a rigorous review process, and we foresee no difficulties in meeting the CEAB criteria.
