Hi! My name is Anika Williams-Hewitt, my pronouns are she/her and I am a Career Advisor on the Undergraduate and co-op Team!
I’ve had a fairly non-linear career path! I studied Early Childhood Studies at Ryerson University in undergrad and completed my Master of Social Work degree at Wilfrid Laurier University. This journey has taken me to work at non-profit organizations, post-secondary institutions (e.g. students’ union), hospitals, government, school boards, early learning centres, and much more! My interests have been varied throughout my career path, from wanting to be a journalist, then a speech and language pathologist, then an occupational therapist, then a children's therapist, and now an advisor. Now it's my value for equity that is the through line across my jobs, not necessarily a title.
I am incredibly passionate about bringing an equity lens to navigating the job search/co-op process. I hope to support students in recognizing the skills they have within and figuring out how to reach their goals. I am seeking to provide a safe(er) space for students to feel heard, supported and cared for. I know navigating school can be difficult! My hope is to support you in navigating these systems and to engage in advocacy to ensure your voice is heard!
Talk to me about: poetry, equity, film/tv, writing, plants and puzzles, mental health and wellness, food, travel, student advocacy/organizing and poorly attempting TikTok trends!
