One-on-one career advising appointments

The Centre for Career Development (CCD) offers different types of appointments to help you with career decisions:
 

  • In a career planning appointment, an advisor can help you decide if further education is a good choice for you by helping you to understand yourself and identify your core values.
  • In a work search appointment, an advisor can help you explore your employment options with or without further education.
  • In a further education appointment, a further education advisor can talk about the educational requirements related to your career goals. Knowing the educational prerequisites for certain careers can help you to make informed decisions about your future.

Law

  • Canadian Bar Association

    • The Canadian Bar Association features information on membership, professional development and other legal resources.

  • CareerHub: Law

    • This is CareerHub’s dedicated Further Education law school page. It contains various resources on things to keep in mind when planning for law school and the application process in Canada and internationally.

  • Federation of Law Societies of Canada

    • The Federation is the national association of the 14 law societies within Canada‘s provinces and the nation’s regulator of the legal profession.

  • Internet Legal Resource Guide

    • A categorized index of more than 4,000 web sites concerning law and the legal profession, with an emphasis on the U.S.

  • Law School Admission Council (LSAC)

    • Register for the LSAT on this site. The Credential Assembly Service (CAS) provides a means of centralizing and standardizing undergraduate academic records to simplify the American law school admission process.

  • The Ontario Law Application Services (OLSAS)

    • Application Service (OLSAS) is a non-profit centralized application service for applicants to the six Ontario law schools: Osgoode Hall Law School (York University), University of Ottawa, Queen's University, University of Toronto, The University of Western Ontario, and University of Windsor.

  • Law Society of Ontario (LSO) 

    • LSO is the regulatory body for lawyers and paralegals in Ontario. Their website provides information on licensing procedures for lawyers and paralegals who would like to practice in the province.

  • American Medical Student Association (AMSA)

    • The American Medical Student Association includes resources to prepare students including coaching and mentoring, self-assessments and clinical experience information.

  • Association of American Medical Colleges (AMCAS)

    • The American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) is the centralized U.S. medical school application processing service.

  • Canadian Resident Matching Service (CARMS)

    • CARMS provides application and match services for the Canadian medical education community.

  • CareerHub: Dentistry

    • This is CareerHub’s dedicated Further Education page for dental school. Whether you are looking information on Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD), we have resources to support you in planning, applying and interviewing for dental school.

  • CareerHub: Medicine

    • This is CareerHub’s dedicated Further Education medicine page. It contains various resources on very general medical school information but also specific information on prerequisites and the MCAT.

    • A forum-based resource with admission advice for Canadian pre-med students.

  • Professional Association of Interns and Residents of Ontario (PAIRO)

    • PAIRO is a resource to help students navigate into, through and out of residency training in Ontario.

  • Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada

    • The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada has information on post-graduate residency training and features a list of medical specialties.

  • The Student Doctor Network

    • A variety of information for students including medical school interview questions.

  • Undergraduate Research Opportunities

    • This resource is the United States’ Centralized Optometry Application site and features information about U.S. schools and colleges.
