Access career support

Congratulations on joining the University of Waterloo alumni community! We are here to support you as you navigate your next move. We have a variety of career development supports for you to access whenever you need them.

Career advising appointments

Alumni Relations, in partnership with the Centre for Career Development, provides career advising for Waterloo alumni.

Our alumni career advisors are available virtually for individual appointments. Your first 3 appointments are free. Each appointment is an hour in length. Additional appointments will cost $40 per hour.

We encourage you to continue to check WaterlooWorks as new appointment hours are posted on an ongoing basis. If you are looking for a Further Education appointment, please fill out this request form.

Please note: If you miss two scheduled appointments without cancelling in advance, you will lose access to our booking system. However, if this occurs - please don't worry! We won't charge you a fee for your absences, but we'd like to chat with you about how we can support you in working with the booking system moving forward.

For questions, please reach out via live chat or email us at to contact one of our client support representatives. To pay for additional appointments, view our payment options.

For further instructions on how to book an appointment, please refer to our appointment booking procedure.

Job search with WaterlooWorks

Even after you’ve graduated, WaterlooWorks is still available to you.

If you have a student account, an alumni account AND a staff account, you will receive an error message when selecting any alumni modules because your staff account is the default. In order to access your alumni account, please follow these steps:

  1. Once you've logged into WaterlooWorks, click Access Different Account from your dashboard.
  2. Highlight the different account section and you should see your name with “ALUM” next to it.
  3. Select the alumni account section to go to your alumni dashboard.

Everyone will need to register for the 2-factor authentication (2FA) system before logging in, otherwise, you will encounter a “you are not enrolled” error. For more information and to register, please refer to the 2FA homepage. If you need assistance, please email
