WaterlooWorks now has the ability to internally host secure Webcam appointments. When you book a 'Virtual' appointment the appointment will appear in the 'Today's Webcam Appointments and/or Interviews' widget on the top right hand side of your Dashboard when you log into WaterlooWorks.
When you click on the 'View' button in this widget you will see your upcoming Webcam interactions for the day in a list.
The 'Join' button for the relevant appointment will become active 10 minutes prior to the appointment time and you may click 'Join' to begin the appointment (you may need to wait for your advisor if you are early).
For the best experience possible please use Chrome, Firefox or Safari browsers on a laptop or PC and disable Ad Blockers and Evernote add-ins.
Be aware that this is a webcam appointment so if you'd rather not appear onscreen please have a sticky note blocking your camera or close your laptop lid.

Confidentiality Statement
Prior to booking appointments, please read the following Confidentiality Statement. By continuing with the process of booking an appointment with the Centre for Career Action (bottom of page), you are agreeing to the following terms.
Appointments in the Centre for Career Action:
I understand that individual appointments are confidential and that CCA will not report to anyone outside The Centre for Career Action and Co-operative Education my attendance at career advising appointments. CCA will not report to anyone outside of The Centre for Career Action on the information shared during such appointments without my prior written consent to do so. Exceptions to this include when we may be legally required to use/disclose some personal information without consent:
- When there is an imminent danger to myself, my advisor and/or an identifiable third party;
- When there are reasonable grounds to suspect that a child under the age of 16 years is or may be in need of protection; or
- When a disclosure is ordered by a court or otherwise required by law. Additional exceptions include case consultations and electronically mediated appointments.
Case consultations
- I understand that CCA staff may consult with colleagues within CCA (only when necessary) for training purposes and in order to improve the quality of the services and resources provided to the client. This is done without disclosing the client's identity.
Electronically mediated appointments
- I recognize that there are limits to protecting my personal information. If I choose an electronically mediated appointment (via phone, Skype, etc.), I understand that the CCA cannot guarantee confidentiality (e.g., crossed phone lines, someone in my household listening, interception of transmissions over the phone line or internet etc.).
Responsibility
- I am voluntarily participating in career advising provided by the Centre for Career Action (CCA), whether through appointments, drop-ins, co-op consultations, follow-up to appointments, or other forms of communication between me and the CCA.
- Staff in the Centre for Career Action provide individualized services for the purpose of enhancing client career success, but assume no responsibility for my career and/or academic direction or success. I remain solely responsible for making my career, education and employment decisions and for verifying information that may impact these decisions.
- As per Policy 33 and the University of Waterloo’s approach to Occupational Health and Safety, I will contribute towards a positive and productive environment that is safe and welcoming to all; examples of such attitude are: respectful communication and working collaboratively.
- In alignment with the University’s Principles of Inclusivity, I will treat all service providers with respect and dignity to maintain positive and constructive relationships including not using threatening or aggressive language to accomplish goals (to self or others).
- I acknowledge and respect that there will be other students and programming that will require the service provider’s assistance and time.
- I understand that information provided to me by CCA is for the purposes of making career, education and employment decisions unique to my individual goals and circumstances. I agree that I will not use it for any other purpose and will not distribute, or otherwise make it available to others.
- In an appointment, if I wish to tape-record, photograph, video-record or otherwise reproduce appointment materials, I must obtain the advisor's consent beforehand. Otherwise, all such reproduction is an infringement of privacy and copyright and is absolutely prohibited. I note that where such permission is granted by the advisor, materials reproduced are for my individual private use only, not for further reproduction or publication.
- CCA welcomes all accommodation requests and is happy to work with clients to deliver information in a way that works best for them.
Co-op Consultations
- I understand that individual consults are confidential and that CCA will not report to anyone outside The Centre for Career Action and Co-operative Education my attendance at a co-op consult or the information shared during such consultations without my prior written consent to do so.
- Employees of Co-operative Education, for example, Student Advisors, do have access to attendance records and limited notes that are kept in WaterlooWorks. These notes are written with respect for student privacy, and typically include only a general description of the topic(s) discussed. Occasionally staff may consult with colleagues within CCA for training purposes, process implications and case exceptions, and in order to improve the quality of the services and resources provided to the client.
- Other exceptions to total confidentiality include when we may be legally required to use/disclose some personal information without consent:
- When there is an imminent danger to myself and/or an identifiable third party;
- When there are reasonable grounds to suspect that a child under the age of 16 years is or may be in need of protection; or
