Laura Ashfield

With a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding career uncertainty and structural barriers, Laura is dedicated to empowering students to recognize their unique strengths and build confidence as they navigate their career.  

Laura’s approach is grounded in empathy, equity, openness and collaboration with clients. Before joining the University of Waterloo in 2019, Laura worked within the non-profit sector, specializing in community development, social justice advocacy, newcomer support and employment services. She holds a Master of Arts in Immigration and Settlement Studies, a Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies and a post-graduate certificate in Community and Social Service Management. Outside of work she enjoys walking with her pup, cycling, singing, exploring interior design and staying engaged in social justice work.
