Benefits

As an employee, you will enjoy a defined-benefit pension plan, an extended health care plan, dental benefits, and group life insurance. View the Pension and Benefits Employee Booklet for more information. In addition, Waterloo offers tuition benefits for employees and their children. The University of Waterloo also has a variety of associations and committees that give employees a voice to work with the University’s senior administration on employment policies, benefits, compensation, and other organization issues.

Career development

You’ll also enjoy significant opportunities to grow your career through leadership training, organizational development workshops and secondments. Faculty and staff at every level can take advantage of confidential career advisement and coaching through our employee career advisors.

Campus community

We provide a welcoming, inclusive environment where every member of our campus community can achieve their full potential. Our on-campus amenities include theatres, art galleries, full athletic facilities, extensive green space — including a 109-hectare environmental reserve — and more. Parents can take advantage of various campus resources such as on-site child-care facilities, as well as children’s programs and summer camps.

One of Canada’s best cities to live and work

The University of Waterloo is proud to call Waterloo Region home. Situated approximately 100 kilometres west of Toronto and easily accessed via Highway 401, the Region blends big-city amenities with a small-town sense of community. Roughly 600,000 residents are spread across the thriving urban centres of Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge, as well as rural townships where horse-drawn Mennonite buggies are still a common sight.
