To do our best work, we all need an environment where we feel like we belong and our ideas matter. Our welcoming, inclusive campus community fosters a workplace culture that’s all about helping each other achieve our full potential.
The living is easy on campus! Our amenities include theatres, art galleries, full athletic facilities, extensive green space — including a 109-hectare environmental reserve — and much more.
Parents can take advantage of various campus resources, such as on-site child-care facilities, children’s programs, and summer camps.
Enjoy life in a growing community that blends big-city amenities with small-town warmth. The University of Waterloo is proud to call Waterloo Region home, where our shared values of innovation, entrepreneurship, and diversity are reflected in a booming tech sector and vibrant urban centres.
Situated roughly 100 kilometres west of Toronto and easily accessed via Highway 401, the Region has more than 600,000 residents spread across Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge, as well as rural townships where horse-drawn Mennonite buggies are still a common sight.
The campus community takes part in Thrive Week, a series of events focused on building positive mental health for University of Waterloo students, staff, and faculty.
In the city of Waterloo, you'll find yourself in the company of dreamers, entrepreneurs, and creatives — not to mention cool coffee shops, trendy restaurants, cultural events, and local experiences you can't have anywhere else.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our Office of Indigenous Relations.
