Map the System Campus Finals 2023

Join us April 12th from 12-2pm for the campus finals of the Map the System competition here at UWaterloo! Of the 55 teams that entered, 6 teams will compete to move on to the Canada-wide finals and the chance to compete at the global finals in Oxford. Teams will present their complex problem landscapes with the chance to win generous prizes donated by Kindred Credit Union and other partners.

Reflections on MEDA Convention 2022

Earlier this month, Emma Kirke packed into a van along with 5 other Grebelites of varying years and programs and headed down to Lancaster Pennsylvania to attend MEDA’s annual convention. Focused on “Celebrating Entrepreneurship,” the convention highlighted the past successes of the organization, as well as exciting new developments to watch for in the coming years. The Mennonite Development Associates organization has been a part of the international economic development arena for nearly seventy years, working in over the same number of countries. Beginning as a collective of Mennonite businesspeople, the organization focuses on creating business solutions to poverty.

2SLGBTQIA+ History Month

Beyond Pride month in June, there are many opportunities to celebrate the 2SLGBTQIA+ community throughout the year, for example, October marks 2SLGBTQIA+ history month. First celebrated in 1994 in Missouri, the month serves as an opportunity to reflect on how far the 2SLGBTQIA+ community has come and how far there still is to go.

For the past several years we have connected with Grebel students enrolled in a range of academic programs who are eager to reflect critically on the impact of technology on our world, and are yearning to apply their creativity to advance peace.

Peace Week 2019 is here!

Kris Braun, VP of Engineering at Bonfire, was a guest speaker in my Engineering and Peace class last week, and shared the inspiring story of how they hired a Syrian refugee named Mohammed Hakmi through a new program called Talent Beyond Borders.
