Tin: The theme of our tile is based upon the classic film, “The Wizard of Oz”. Tin Man represents one use of tin, which is coating other metals to prevent corrosion or other chemical action. Our “yellow brick road” is built of periodic table tiles for gold, silver, mercury, copper, lead, and iron. These metals, along with tin, were the seven metals of alchemy. Today, tin is used with most of them in alloys or as a coating agent. The symbol and atomic number are made of aluminum foil, which is a wrapping material commonly called “tin foil”.
