Bismuth: The tile we created was based on the element bismuth (Bi). We decided to display two hands, one showing the alchemy symbol for bismuth and the other depicting the solid metal of bismuth itself. We have placed the element symbol (Bi) in one corner as well as the atomic number (83) in another corner of the tile.  During our research of the element we discovered that bismuth trioxide can be used in creating fireworks.  Although mainly used for one type of firework we decided to show a display of colors on our tile. Several students in grades 8 and 9 from William Mercer Academy worked on this tile and found it a very interesting and fun project.
