CHEM 400: Modern Physical Organic Chemistry: Experimental and Machine Learning Methods

  • Prerequisite:  CHEM 360

This course explores how modern physical organic chemistry integrates experimental, computational, and machine learning approaches to study chemical reactions. Students will examine how these complementary methods are used to understand reaction mechanisms and guide the development of new transformations. Topics include advanced experimental (kinetics, isotope effects, and linear free energy relationships) and computational methods for mechanistic investigation, and the application of machine learning algorithms to problems in reactivity and selectivity.
