Learn the Korean language from the bottom-up. Starting with the Korean alphabet and continue to develop oral, comprehension, and writing skills. Our courses utilize a curriculum that we have specifically created for beginners in a university setting. The materials used in class are based on the philosophy that learning Korean should be "easy to understand and easy to acquire."

If you have prior exposure to the Korean language, your abilities will be assessed through a placement interview. To set up an appointment, please contact the Culture and Language Studies Department at cls@uwaterloo.ca

What are my academic plan options?

There are two different academic plans open to students enrolled in KOREA courses:

Students can complete a Korea Language diploma. We offer two language diplomas Korea Language I and Korea Language II. Diplomas I and II are mutually exclusive. Only one diploma can be granted.

To graduate with a Korea Language Diploma, students must declare the diploma on their Application to Graduate form.
