To: Graduate students at the University of Waterloo

Subject: REMINDER: Download Regroup Mobile now

Beginning October 1, Regroup Mobile will be the sole emergency notification system at UWaterloo. WatSAFE will no longer be used to communicate alerts. We recommend everyone download the Regroup Mobile app to receive instant multichannel alerts and updates on your phone in critical situations.

Download Regroup Mobile for Android or iOS

Regroup Mobile’s emergency notification system features a user-friendly interface that is well-suited to the University of Waterloo's diverse community. With its multi-channel approach—including SMS, voice calls, emails, app push notifications, and desktop alerts—Regroup ensures fast and reliable emergency communication.

How to help make campus safer with desktop alerts

The emergency desktop notification tool, previously activated through WatSAFE, will transition to Regroup’s AdHocAlert desktop notification tool for both Windows and macOS devices. If your device is managed by the University, this will be automatically installed. If you manage your own device, please follow these instructions to install desktop alerts on your computer.

If you have any questions or require support with the installation of AdHocAlert, please email ens@uwaterloo.ca.

New Emergency Notification System for Visitors

Each year, UWaterloo welcomes thousands of guests, including guest lecturers, politicians, toddlers in daycare, alumni, parents, contractors and co-op employers. To ensure their safety—along with the entire campus community—Regroup Mobile offers a temporary notification service that allows visitors to receive any emergency notifications via SMS and email.

We encourage those welcoming visitors to campus for a specific time period to integrate the ENS visitor sign-up link into event planning, visitor communications, and daily work involving guests.

Thank you for your continued cooperation as we implement these important safety updates.
