Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (GSPA) is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Vice-President, Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs and Assistant Provost, Graduate Students, beginning July 1, 2026, for a two-year term.

About the role

The role follows a comprehensive review of GSPA that resulted in the consolidation of two previous Assistant Vice-President positions into a single leadership role focused on graduate student and postdoctoral initiatives and cross-institutional collaboration. The position reports to the Associate Vice-President, Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Associate Provost, Students.

Held by an academic colleague, the Assistant VP will help advance priorities across the GSPA portfolio while serving as a key liaison with the Associate Provost, Students portfolio. The role will support initiatives that strengthen the graduate student and postdoctoral experience, foster collaboration across academic and support units, and contribute to institutional decision-making related to graduate education and student success.

Responsibilities include supporting graduate student orientation and transition initiatives, professional and academic development programming, graduate supervision training, experiential learning opportunities, and community-building activities for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. The Assistant VP will also contribute to graduate awards and scholarship adjudication, admissions oversight, petitions processes, and initiatives focused on equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
