This year’s publication, available in print or digital format, is designed to provide a high-level overview of their innovative, interdisciplinary and international accomplishments. On the basis of their members’ contributions, the Institute has been able to catalyze and deliver remarkable research, educational programs, international collaborations and innovative breakthroughs, making the Water Institute one of the world’s top water research organizations.
A message from Information Systems & Technology.
To better address some of the privacy related questions the project team is receiving during our early consultation sessions, we have expanded the Cloud computing at the University of Waterloo resource on the Office 365 Employee Email Investigation website.
If you still have questions or concerns after reviewing the updated material, please let us know using the feedback form or at an upcoming consultation session. Please note, Faculty-specific sessions have or will be arranged with faculty contacts directly. A broader staff consultation will be communicated once the details have been confirmed.
A message from UW Police Services and Information Security Services.
The University of Waterloo Police Service in collaboration with the University of Waterloo Information Security Services is warning members of our community to be wary of a variety of fraudulent activity recently highlighted in the media. Of particular interest to students are two types of rental scams to be conscious of.
The first scam is Fraudulent Properties for Rent. In these instances, scammers fraudulently advertise rentals in a preferred location. They may request the renters to answer a questionnaire asking for their personal information and banking information. Once the offer is accepted, the renter then sends money to the scammer with first and/or last month’s rent. The victim arrives at the designated time to receive their keys and learns that the address does not exist or that they have been misled.
The second scam is Fraudulent Renters looking for Property to Rent. Fraudulent renters are scammers who claim to want to rent the apartment but actually do not intend to live there. They send a fraudulent form of overpayment and ask you, the potential renter to send the additional funds back to them.
For more information and tips on how to avoid being scammed, check out the Frauds and Scams page on the UW Police website.
A test of the University’s emergency communication system is scheduled for today at 2:00 p.m. Test activation and deactivation messages will be sent using several channels, including:
Be sure to install the WatSAFE app on your device to receive this test message, and more importantly, to stay informed of campus emergency situations. Visit the WatSAFE website for more details.
To kick off Zero Waste Week here on campus, Plant Operations and Waste Connections will be sharing information on waste reduction and diversion, changes to the waste receptacles on campus, proper sorting of your waste materials, organics collection, and how the University of Waterloo is taking the steps to become a zero-waste campus! Visit https://bit.ly/2MpHSOp for tickets.
Do you have overdue or lost Library books? Return them to the Library between Tuesday October 15 and Saturday November 30 and all replacement, processing, and overdue charges will be waived. According to the Library, it's a limited time offer - after that, they call the Library Detective out of retirement. Questions? Ask the Library!
Finally, a correction to yesterday's "positions available" listing. The following position—Job ID# 2019-4720 - Administrative Manager - Spanish, USG 6—should have been listed as an internal secondment opportunity, and not a regular ongoing position. Human Resources and the Daily Bulletin regret the error.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg, and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within the Office of Indigenous Relations.
