TheGenerative AI Enablement Governance committee is pleased to announce the launch of the Generative AI website, a new institutional resource for the use and integration of GenAI across the University’s teaching and learning, research, and administrative environments.
EdTech Sandbox is a physical and virtual space for collaboration, safe testing, and experimentation of different educational technologies and software for use in courses and for innovation in education.
The University will proceed with the purchase of a temporary (one-year) site licence for iClicker that will make the tool available to students at no cost for the period from September 1, 2025, to August 31, 2026
The guidelines align with the supported direction to address EdTech duplication while recognizing that there are unique situations that a non-centrally supported tool will not satisfy.
IST will be discontinuing the existing SPSS license with Orion, due to the significant cost, and relatively low usage of SPSS.

After consulting Undergraduate Associate Deans, AFIW Academic Deans, the Undergraduate Operations Committee, Work Integrated Learning (WIL), Cooperative and Experiential Education (CEE), and the EdTech Steering Committee, the decision was made to discontinue the AI detection tool in Turnitin. This function will no longer be available to University of Waterloo users as of September 2025.
eCampusOntario’s (eCO) H5P Studio tool will be unavailable to apply essential updates and to improve accessibility of the platform.
