Instructional Technologies and Media Services (ITMS) has partnered with the Teaching Innovation Incubator (TII) to support experimentation in bold teaching and learning ideas, focusing on the student learning experience. A new Educational Technologies (EdTech) Sandbox safely combines and trials technology with pedagogy. Innovative teaching projects involve IT much earlier, saving time and effort.

A space to collaborate and share knowledge and information with other instructors and staff about educational technologies currently in use or being investigated at Waterloo.

As announced on May 3rd, the University obtained a one-year centrally funded site licence to pilot the polling tool Vevox, for both academic and non-academic purposes. iClicker is still currently supported since no single polling tool previously met all the requirements of our community of users. Both tools have recently added new features that need to be evaluated before assessing the results of the Vevox pilot.

We're excited to announce that Vevox, one of the supported polling tools currently being piloted, will have an integration with LEARN enabled for the Fall 2024 term. This integration will allow Vevox to push grades to LEARN for correct answers and/or for participation.

SMS Notifications to be removed from Waterloo LEARN

As part of the LEARN Improvements Project, the Teaching Innovation Incubator, in collaboration with Instructional Technologies and Media Services is now piloting the Creator+ tool to help University of Waterloo faculty and staff enhance student engagement in their LEARN courses.
