Since the beginning of the global pandemic, the Renison English Language Institute has navigated this period by offering a variety of high-quality English language programs and exceptional student experience support in a fully online format.

As of September 27, more than 80 per cent of individuals in Ontario over the age of 12 years old have been fully vaccinated. The increase in vaccination rates both locally and globally has given confidence to our Renison University College and University of Waterloo community that we will be able to offer more in-person educational experiences in Winter 2022.

Following the recent news shared by the University of Waterloo, we are excited to announce that our English For Academic Success (EFAS), Bridge to Academic Success in English (BASE), and General English at Renison (GEAR) programs will return in a fully in-person format for the Winter 2022 term.

The English Language Institute at Renison University College is excited to return to providing students with quality English language instruction through a vibrant in-person learning experience. It remains our objective to work with you and help you achieve your English language goals.

Making your safety a priority

To ensure safety of all students, staff, and instructors, individuals must submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Waterloo degree students studying through our BASE program will submit their proof of vaccination or start the process for accommodation through the University of Waterloo's Campus Check-in System. Non-degree students studying in our EFAS program will be required to submit a proof of vaccination confidentially to Renison University College's Human Resources department during their first week of classes.

As members of our Renison community, students also have access to many COVID-19 testing, vaccination, and rapid antigen screening services provided by the University of Waterloo. More information can be found on our ELI Orientation website. Students travelling to Canada will also be able to access supports related to creating a quarantine plan and accessing a quarantine package, if necessary. More information about entering Canadian and quarantine information can be found on our ELI Orientation website
