About Julia
As the CTE Faculty Liaison (Environment & Arts), Julia works alongside instructors to strengthen teaching communities, share course design and assessment strategies, and foster meaningful learning experiences. Starting in 2014, Julia's career in higher education weaves together teaching, instructional design, educational development, and research. Julia has worked as an instructional designer for five colleges and two universities. During this time, Julia was also a Part-Time Professor at Canadore College (2014-2022). Julia joined the University of Waterloo in 2019 as an Online Learning Consultant at the Centre for Extended Learning where she worked with instructors to design a dozen undergraduate and graduate courses.
Julia is working towards her PhD in Social and Ecological Sustainability at UWaterloo. Julia has an Honors Bachelor of Science in Biology from Western University, a Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University, a Master of Environment and Sustainability from Western University and a Learning Experience Design Certificate from OISE, University of Toronto. She is an avid musician and enjoys exploring local forests, lakes, and rivers with her family and friends.
