Building an educational environment that allows every individual to reach their full potential is our collective responsibility at the University of Waterloo. The goal of the PALs program is to lead and facilitate culture change by embedding Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Anti-racism (EDI-R) into their curriculum, programs, and units. By centralizing EDI-R at the University of Waterloo, we can improve the experiences and outcomes for Black, Indigenous, Racialized and other equity deserving groups, thus improving the student experience for all.

The program aims to develop and support new and existing EDI-R leads to assist in a coordinated and centralized approach, embedding EDI-R within their units/areas. The EDI-R office will lead and drive competency and capacity-building opportunities to achieve transformational change, increasing the impact of equity and EDI-R.

The PALs Pilot Program will take place over 12 months with formal support, training, and facilitation. However, participants will have the opportunity for self-directed content.
