Dan Brown has decided to resign as FAUW president, effective the end of June 2021, citing personal reasons.
The FAUW Board has approved a plan for a special election for a new president for the term July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2023. Nomination forms will be available on Monday, May 17, and due at noon on Monday, May 31. If there is more than one candidate, voting will take place for one week in June.
We will also be holding an election for a director from the Faculty of Engineering at the same time, to fill a one-year vacancy starting July 1.
If you are interested in either position, please contact a member of the Elections Committee. More details are also available on the Elections page.
Dan says, “it’s been a challenging year, obviously, for all of us. But I am heartened by all of the good work FAUW is doing on subjects ranging from equitable hiring to improving our members’ benefits to advocating for racial justice to working to keep our members safe in a global pandemic. I look forward to seeing what the new FAUW leadership will accomplish.”
Dan will continue in his role as normal until June 30, including helping the new president prepare for the position. FAUW would like to thank Dan for his leadership and all of the work he's done for FAUW over the last decade. In addition to being FAUW president, Dan has served on, among other things, FAUW's Equity Committee, provost's advisory committees on both Equity and Timetabling, the Fall Break Steering Committee, and, of course, the FAUW Board.
