CAUT and OCUFA
FAUW is a member of the Canadian Association of University Teachers and the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations. These are, respectively, the national and provincial organizations representing university faculty. A portion of FAUW dues go to each organization.
RAAS is a certified (i.e. unionized) bargaining agent representing faculty and academic librarians at Renison University College. The association was formed in 2018, certified in 2020, and is currently negotiating a collective agreement and policies with Renison. RAAS members have affiliate membership status in FAUW as of January 1, 2019 through a service agreement between the two associations. FAUW has provided a start-up loan to RAAS and provides support and services to the association and its members in exchange for membership fees. A member of the RAAS executive sits on our Board of Directors in a non-voting capacity (and vice versa) and their Equity Committee chair sits on our Equity Committee.
LAAUW supports, promotes, and creates opportunities for professional librarians at Waterloo. They have an ex-officio (non-voting) seat on our Board of Directors and a representative on our Equity Committee. While academic librarians at many Canadian universities are represented by faculty associations, Waterloo librarians are officially represented by the University of Waterloo Staff Association (UWSA) at this time. They have the option to join both UWSA or FAUW as dues-paying, voting members.
The SJU-ASA is the certified bargaining agent for all faculty and professional librarians at St. Jerome’s University. They have an ex-officio seat on our Board and vice versa.
For more organizations we work with but aren't officially connected to, see our page on acronyms and glossaries.
