Bring your voice to the table by volunteering with FAUW. Whatever your expertise or interests, we'll find a role for you. If you don't see something suitable below, contact Laura McDonald and let us know how you think you can help.
Service for FAUW counts as service to the University on your annual performance review.
Current opportunities at FAUW
Want to host FAUW social events? We're looking for volunteers to host faculty coffee breaks, happy hours, research networking events, POC or WOC meet-ups, speed mentoring sessions, or other events you suggest! Contact Laura McDonald if you're interested.
Blog writer and/or web content drafter
If you have an idea for a blog post, or just want to write about topics we assign you, please send Laura a sample of your informal, accessible writing. (Blog post ideas are welcome throughout the year!)
Indigenization Working Group;
Reading Circle on Indigeneity and the University
The working group is focused on educating and providing resources for our members to help them take action on Indigenization and reconciliation. The Reading Circle is examining public statements and articles about Indigenous initiatives in academe and discussing how they might apply at the University of Waterloo. To get involved with either, contact Laura McDonald.
In late January, we will begin soliciting nominations for our Board of Directors: four at-large directors, one director representing lecturers, and one director representing faculty in Applied Health Sciences.
You can find information about our elections and these roles in section 7 of the FAUW Constitution, in our election procedures, and on our page about running for the Board. We will send more details when nominations open.
