Get involved

Bring your voice to the table by volunteering with FAUW. Whatever your expertise or interests, we'll find a role for you. If you don't see something suitable below, contact Laura McDonald and let us know how you think you can help.

Service to FAUW counts as service to the University for your annual performance review.

Current opportunities at FAUW

Council of Representatives

We're emailing all chairs and directors in September to ask out who this year's representatives will be. How each rep is selected is up to each department/school. If you're interested, talk to your chair (and your colleagues!).

Event host

Want to host FAUW social events? We're looking for volunteers to host faculty coffee breaks, happy hours, research networking events, POC or WOC meet-ups, speed mentoring sessions, or other events you suggest! Contact Laura McDonald if you're interested.

Blog writer and/or web content drafter

If you have an idea for a blog post, or just want to write about topics we assign you, please send Laura a sample of your informal, accessible writing. (Blog post ideas are welcome throughout the year!)

Indigenization Working Group;
Reading Circle on Indigeneity and the University

The working group is focused on educating and providing resources for our members to help them take action on Indigenization and reconciliation. The Reading Circle is examining public statements about Indigenous initiatives in academe and discussing how they might apply at the University of Waterloo. To get involved with either, contact Laura McDonald

Current opportunities outside of FAUW

Working group on sexual and gender diversity

The Working Group on Sexual and Gender Diversity, part of the Provost's Advisory Committee on Equity (PACE), is looking for a faculty representative for its executive committee. Please send expressions of interest to Laura McDonald.

Waterloo Women's Wednesdays presenter

W3 is looking for someone to speak about, or lead a workshop on, imposter syndrome. If you think you have something to say about this that others can benefit from, contact Laura McDonald. If you know of someone who would be great for this but doesn't think they would be and won't volunteer themselves, contact Laura McDonald. ;)
