Making a Payment From a Bank in Canada

To pay your fees from a Canadian bank:

Bank payment using online banking or ATM or telephone banking or at your bank

  • add University of Waterloo as a bill payment "payee"
  • use your student ID number as the "account number."  Be very sure that you are using the correct student ID number
  • allow 3 - 5 days for your payment to appear on your student account
  • if your payment is not showing on your student account within five days, contact your bank to investigate
  • if your payment does not arrive on Quest by the due date, a Fees Arranged Extension Fee will be charged.
  • We will not be able to process your Promissory Note until any partial payment required is showing on your student account. We may need to charge a Fees Arranged Extension Fee to your student account.
  • Note that making a bill payment from a credit card is not the same as making a bill payment from a bank in Canada and could result in additional fees to the payor.
  • Adding your banking information on Quest is only to facilitate refunds from your Quest account. You cannot make an online bank payment to your student account from within Quest.

Company cheque (e.g. from your RESP company)payable to University of Waterloo. 

  • include your student number and name on the memo line of the payment
  • courier to:
    Finance - Student Financial Services, 4th Floor, East Campus 5
    University of Waterloo
    200 University Avenue West
    Waterloo, ON N2L 3G1 Canada
  • service fee of $25.00 will be charged to your student account if the cheque does not clear
  • must arrive at our office on or before the due date to avoid a Fees Arranged Extension Fee

NOT RECOMMENDED: Certified personal cheque, money order or bank draft from a Canadian bank payable to University of Waterloo 

  • courier to:

    Waterloo, ON N2L 3G1 Canada
  • or, at our dropbox at the campus-facing entrance to East Campus 5
  • include your student number and name on the memo line of the payment
  • must arrive at our office on or before the due date to avoid a Fees Arranged Extension Fee
