Frank Cairo
Frank Cairo is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Caivan Communities and the Advanced Building Innovation Company. Frank is a multidisciplinary entrepreneur who has innovated across several sectors, harnessing advanced manufacturing, software engineering, data science, artificial intelligence and generative design techniques in the optimization of built form and community design. Caivan is currently a top three builder by volume in Ontario and active in more than fifty projects in the GTA and Ottawa regions. As CEO of Caivan Communities, Frank and co-founder Troy van Haastrecht donated 10 million dollars to the University of Waterloo to launch the Future Cities Institute.
Bruce Frayne
Bruce Frayne is a Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Environment at the University of Waterloo. His research interests fall within the broad ambit of sustainable cities, encompassing the three related areas of human migration, urbanization and food security, with a focus on Sub-Saharan Africa and cities of the Global South. Bruce completed his PhD in Geography from Queen's University. Bruce currently serves as the Chair for the Canadian chapter of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UN-SDSN).
Patrick Harrington
Patrick Harrington, a partner at Aird Berlis, is a member of A&B’s Municipal & Land Use Planning Group. He frequently appears before the Ontario Land Tribunal (formerly the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal), seeking or opposing development approvals for a broad range of clients. Patrick regularly advises municipalities, private businesses, landowners, property managers and ratepayer groups on a broad range of regulatory matters, including zoning and Building Code infractions, by-law interpretation, sign regulation, property standards, development charges and minor variances. Patrick also represents private/public housing landlords and tenants on a variety of matters before the Landlord and Tenant Board.
Ben Dachis
Benjamin Dachis is Clean Prosperity’s Vice President of Research and Outreach. Prior to joining Clean Prosperity, Benjamin spent 15 years with the C.D. Howe Institute in a number of policy research and leadership roles, ultimately serving as the Institute’s Associate Vice President, Public Affairs. From 2018 to 2019 he worked as the Director of Policy, Budget and Fiscal Planning for the Premier of Ontario. He was part of the Ontario government’s leadership team in developing a number of policies, including the Housing Supply Action Plan, the 2018 Fall Economic Statement, and the 2019 Budget. He is also currently a part-time lecturer at Toronto Metropolitan University.
