Community & Industry Partners: Propose a Project

Thank you for your interest in partnering with us for the Interdisciplinary Capstone (i-Capstone) course! This is an exciting opportunity for you to collaborate with talented and driven students who bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to the table. By joining us as a community partner, you can gain additional capacity and support for ongoing projects, as student teams can take on specific projects and infuse new energy into your initiatives. This partnership also demonstrates your commitment to fostering education, innovation, and community well-being.

As a community partner, you will be expected to commit to working with students for an 8-month period, supporting them as they develop their projects and collaborate with you to address real-world challenges.

We invite you to register your interest by completing the form below. If you have any questions, please contact Eryn Stewart, Managing Director at the Future Cities Institute at eryn.stewart@uwaterloo.ca. Let's work together to inspire and create positive change in communities!

Submitting Your Own i-Capstone Project Idea as a Student?

We welcome student-led proposals and are excited to see what you're working on. If you're using this form to submit a capstone idea that you've developed independently, please complete each section as thoughtfully and thoroughly as possible.

Some fields in this form are intended for external organizations or community partners. If a question doesn’t apply to your situation, for example, those related to organizational details or a formal relationship with a project team, you can simply enter “N/A.”

You do not need to have every detail finalized to submit an idea. What’s most helpful at this stage is a clear description of the challenge you’re addressing, your goals for the project, and any initial thoughts on how it could be approached.
