Future Cities Institute Postdoctoral Innovation Fellowship Awards (FCI-PIF)

Future Cities Institute Postdoctoral Innovation Fellowship Awards (FCI-PIF)   

The  Future Cities Institute Postdoctoral Innovation Fellowship (FCI-PIF) awards are provided to new or existing externally-funded Postdoctoral Fellows at the University of Waterloo who are focusing on advancing knowledge that will shape the cities of tomorrow.  

 

Value of the award 

  • Valued at up to $10,000 each, the FCI-PIF is supplementary to the applicant’s external Postdoctoral funding  

  • Funds are paid to the FCI-PIF recipient in installments throughout the funding period  

 

Eligibility criteria 

Postdoctoral Fellows from across the University of Waterloo campus are encouraged to apply for a FCI-PIF if they:  

  • Are currently receiving or are about to receive external funding to support a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Waterloo 

  • Satisfy the University of Waterloo’s general eligibility requirements for supplementary Postdoctoral funding 

  • Are building a research program with a focus on one or more of the FCI’s core research areas 

  • Are committed to innovative and solution-oriented scholarship that involves authentic engagement with communities and focuses on addressing real-world opportunities

Future Cities Institute Knowledge Mobilization Grant 

The Future Cities Institute Knowledge Mobilization Grants (FCI-KMbG)will fund high-impact initiatives that bridge research with real-world applications for cities and communities. Grants will be available for projects advancing cross-sectoral knowledge mobilization that is aligned with our mission of fostering healthy and prosperous cities and communities. The grant will support knowledge mobilization activities related to ongoing projects involving collaboration with an external partner (e.g., policymakers, practitioners, general public, specific communities, etc.) that address one or more of the FCI’s core research areas.
