FCI Connects with Ontario's Big City Mayors

A meeting of Ontario’s Big City Mayors (OBCM) was hosted this Friday in Waterloo, with the Future Cities Institute founded by CAIVAN pleased to sponsor the lunch. The session brought together roughly 65 municipal leaders, including mayors, Chief Administrative Officers (CAOs), and government relations staff from the province's largest cities, alongside leadership from the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO).

As the senior leadership responsible for executing growth and development strategies across Ontario's urban centres, these attendees represent the direct transition point where urban policy meets community implementation.

FCI Director Dr. Leia Minaker shared the institute’s collaborative framework and outlined strategic opportunities for cross-sector partnerships between academia and local government.

The institute looks forward to expanding these collaborative networks and partnering with municipal teams across Ontario's big cities to connect evidence and talent to the problems communities are facing right now.
