Global Engagement 2022 Desmarais Family Summit: Water in the World

We invite you to join the Global Engagement 2022 Desmarais Family Summit on Monday April 4 , starting at 6:00 pm at the St. Paul's Ceremonial Firegrounds, then proceeding to Alumni Hall, St Paul's University College. This is a public event featuring projects by our Global Engagement Seminar students, and contributions from our six distingushed 2022 Jarislowsky fellows.

The Global Engagement Seminar is a senior undergraduate course that brings together students from across the University with experts and mentors to develop solutions for contemporary global problems. The Winter 2022 seminar (ARTS 490) theme is Water in the World: Environment, Knowledge, Ethics, and Practice.   

2022 course instructors are Dr. Jennifer Liu (department of Anthropology, Faculty of Arts) and Dr. Heidi Swanson (department of Biology, Faculty of Science) are leading this term's examination of water from multiple perspectives — from public health to media to equity issues, and more.

About joining the event

  • The Summit will begin outdoors, where masks are encouraged. Please dress appropriately for the weather and a short walk to Alumni Hall (where masks are required).
  • If the weather is not suitable for a fire, the opening and proceedings will all happen in Alumni Hall. We will communicate any changes on this page and via email to registered attendees.
  • Please email Rebecca Zehr with questions about the Summit, and/or to make us aware of any accessibility needs.

Please note that the University of Waterloo continues to require Proof of Vaccination and will thus be required to attend this event. If you have not already submitted your proof of vaccination through the University of Waterloo, please email it to rjzehr@uwaterloo.ca prior to your arrival on campus.
