Canada’s water resources span an enormous range in geography, climate, and ecosystems
Understanding and adapting to short and long-term water changes demands a transformative enhancement in the way environmental data is collected, integrated, analyzed, and communicated
Understanding current water conditions and predicting future changes in Canada’s water resources is a significant challenge given the country’s enormous range in geography, climate and ecosystems. The advent of new sources of data from sensor technologies has enhanced the efficiency of data collection but unprecedented amounts of information has required the need for data solutions that can support strategic decision-making.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our Indigenous Initiatives Office.
