Innovative cooling technologies are required to improve the efficiency and extend the lifetime of devices, e.g., thermal management of lithium-ion battery packs and active cooling of engine walls.
We are part of the Battery Workforce Challenge program, supporting the design of thermal management for electric vehicles.
We developed regenerative cooling system in engines to use the thermal/chemical heat sinks of the fuels. More information can be found in our paper published on the International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer.
Another area is falling film evaporation, which utilizes the evaporation of thin liquid films to enhance heat transfer (read our paper published in the International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer).
