Laetitia
Uwineza
is
a
postdoctoral
researcher
in
the
Department
of
Mechanical
and
Mechatronics
Engineering
at
the
University
of
Waterloo.
She
obtained
her
Ph.D.
in
Renewable
Energy
Engineering
at
the
University
of
Science
and
Technology
in
February
2023.
Currently,
her
research
is
focused
on
low
carbon
hydrogen
strategies
in
the
transport
sector
for
a
sustainable
and
resilient
energy
future.
Previously,
she
has
worked
on
renewable
energy
modeling,
control
dispatch
of
microgrid
systems,
sustainable
energy
systems,
optimization
models
for
sizing
grid-connected
and
isolated
microgrids
with
a
strong
focus
on
renewable
energy
generation
technologies
(solar,
wind
turbines,
fuel
cells,
storage
devices
such
as
batteries
and
hydrogen),
and
simulation
techniques
for
energy
systems.
Modelling
green
energy
production
is
a
topic
that
she
has
a
keen
interest
in.
Her
objective
is
to
evaluate
the
economic
benefits
and
risks
in
different
sectors
of
using
hydrogen
in
Canadian
municipalities.
