Mulei
Mao
is
a
BASc.
student
in
the
Department
of
Mechatronics
Engineering
at
the
University of
Waterloo.
Currently,
his
research
focuses
on
analyzing
the
environmental
impact
and
technoeconomic
feasibility
of
next
generation
bioethanol
made
from
duckweed.
Outside
of
research,
he
is
an
executive
member
of
the
Mechatronics
peer
mentorship
group
called
Tron
Mentor
Chats,
an
Amazon
Future
Engineer
program
ambassador,
and
actively
involved
in
the
startup
ecosystem
at
Waterloo.
He
has
worked
with
both
United
College's
GreenHouse
social
incubator
and
Velocity
Science
which
led
him
to
pursuing
biofuel
research.
His
objective
is
to
leverage
Waterloo's
startup
ecosystem
to
help
Canada
accelerate
the
transition
to
sustainable
energy.
