About the security operations centre
The Security Operations Centre (SOC) is a subgroup of the IST Information Security Services group. An SOC is traditionally run as a clearing house for operational security information. The IST SOC functions are to:
- accept and investigate complaints, both internal and external, related to the security of campus computing systems
- passively monitor for possible information security issues on campus
- actively scan for computer security vulnerabilities on campus
