Issue accessing Microsoft 365 apps

Resolved: The cause of this issue has been identified as a configuration error, during scheduled maintenance, to replace a database server, which resulted in the database going offline at a later time. The root cause of the configuration error has been corrected. IST has made some interim improvements such that the system will fail safe in the event of a future database outage.

What was the impact? This led to ~6,000 users being automatically removed from security groups before the process was halted, which in turn removed access to a number of different services/applications.  

What do I need to do? No action is required at this time. The affected users have been re-added to their security groups and access to services/applications has been restored.

Update: This issue has also removed access for some clients to the Atlassian platform (Confluence Cloud, Jira Service Management, Jira Cloud). IST continues to work to resolve the issue.
