Replacement of DNS, DHCP, IPAM infrastructure - March 8, 2023

Monday, February 27, 2023

What is happening? Information Systems & Technology (IST) is replacing the DNS, DHCP, and IPAM infrastructure. In preparation for this work, changes to the current infrastructure will be frozen.

When is it happening? Effective Wednesday, March 8 at 3:00 p.m., changes to the current infrastructure will be frozen. The replacement of the DNS, DHCP, and IPAM infrastructure will take place Sunday, March 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. IT administrators will not be able to log in to the infrastructure until Monday, March 13.

What is the impact? The replacement work scheduled for March 12 is not expected to have a client impact. Devices are expected to be able to obtain IP addresses though DHCP and to look up DNS names throughout the maintenance window.

What do users need to do? No action is required. IT administrators will be required to log in to the new interface after the maintenance window.

Important notes: If an emergency change is required during the change freeze window, please submit a Jira ticket and IST will attempt to accommodate it. In the event of a problematic transition, the changes may be reverted. IST will communicate any issues during the transition. The work is not expected to require the entire maintenance window.
