Nick Hambleton
Legal Counsel
Honours BA (Wilfrid Laurier), MA (Guelph), JD (Dalhousie)
Nick assists the General Counsel and provides a full range of legal services and strategic legal guidance. Prior to joining the University, his practice included a wide-range of administrative and litigation matters, including regulatory investigations and professional regulation.
Frances Hannigan
Assistant Director, Immigration & Visa Services
A Registered Certified Immigration Consultant (RCIC #R507077) since February 2010. Fran is the Assistant Director, Immigration & Visa Services for the University community. She is the subject matter expert on areas of immigration for the University as the employer and is responsible for all immigration matters pertaining to hiring and/or inviting non-Canadians as part of University business.
Terri Rau
Legal Executive Officer
An accomplished senior legal administrator with several years experience in both private legal practice and the public sector. Particular expertise in all aspects of real estate transactions, litigation, risk management issues, privacy law, contract administration, as well as budget, record and file management.
Evan Taylor
Legal Counsel
Honours BSc (Western), JD (Toronto)
Evan worked in private practice prior to joining the University, providing advice to both private and public sector clients, with a focus on labour and employment law. He has appeared before a number of administrative tribunals in Ontario and enjoys finding practical resolutions to complex legal disputes. He provides advice to the University on a wide range of legal issues.
Nickola Voegelin

Nickola is General Counsel at the University of Waterloo and provides strategic legal advice on complex matters impacting the University. Nickola collaborates with multiple stakeholders and leads a team of legal counsel and other professionals on legal matters at the University.
Melanie Weinstein

Melanie has almost 10 years of experience providing administrative support in the legal field. With a background in civil litigation at the Superior Court level, she has developed skills in file management, scheduling, as well as document and correspondence preparation.
