The specialty machines are accessible via a Slurm head node (login node) named rsubmit.math.private.uwaterloo.ca.
- use the head node to write and compile your code, but not to execute jobs
- use Slurm job submission commands to launch your jobs
- use ssh from Linux or Mac, or PuTTY from Windows, to connect to the head node
Requirements
- a research and staff account or WatIAM account
- Virtual Private Network (VPN) must be running to connect from an off campus location
- for systems belonging to specific research groups, contact MFCF to ensure that your WatIAM ID is associated with one or more Slurm accounts
- some servers will need authorization. See machine specification page.
Please note
- You must have up-to-date shell "rc" files (e.g. .cshrc, .profile) to use these servers. If your account was created before May 2015 and you have not yet updated your shell rc files, send mail to mfcfhelp@uwaterloo.ca and ask us to run the command
init_home
for you.
