Using OneDrive on Remote Desktop Services hosts

Summary

  • Files stored on OneDrive can be accessed on the windows.math.uwaterloo.ca remote desktop hosts
  • Remember that no highly restricted data as per Policy 46 can be stored on cloud storage
  • Shared data needs to be stored on the S: drive
  • OneDrive might have to be set up multiple times as you get connected to different servers

Procedure

  • Connect to windows.math.uwaterloo.ca
  • Open a command prompt (cmd.exe) and enter these commands

    N:\>v:
    V:\>OneDriveSetup.exe /uninstall
    V:\>OneDriveSetup.exe
  • Ensure the location for the local cache is C:\Users\<WatIAM ID>\AppData\Local

  • Right click on the OneDrive icon in the notification area (bottom right)

  • Select Settings

  • Go to the Settings tab and check the box under Files On-Demand to Save space and download files as you use them
