Dr. Brian Mainland

Dr. Brian Mainland is the co-director of Waterloo Psychology Group, a private practice offering psychological and neuropsychological services in Uptown Waterloo. His primary focus is offering evidence-based therapy (e.g., Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy) to support adolescents and adults with various challenges, including anxiety, depression, chronic pain, concussion and a wide-range of stress-related illnesses. His other area of practice pertains to neuropsychological assessment of acquired brain injury and disorders affecting cognition and learning in adults.

Prior to moving back home to Waterloo Region in 2017, Dr. Mainland worked at Burlington Psychological and Counselling Services for several years. He completed his pre-doctoral residency at the CPA-accredited London Clinical Psychology Residency Consortium. He has previously held positions at the Parkwood Institute’s Acquired Brain Injury Program, University Hospital’s Epilepsy/Neurology/Neurosurgery Services, Western University’s Student Development Centre, Princess Margaret Hospital’s Pencer Brain Tumour Centre, Toronto Western Hospital’s Neuropsychology Clinic, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and Sunnybrook Health Science Centre.

Dr. Mainland received his doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Ryerson University in 2015 and he is registered as a clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Dr. Mainland is an Adjunct Faculty Supervisor at the University of Waterloo.
