Research led by PhD student Brok Laschowski was featured in the GTC keynote address by Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA. Brok’s research focuses on deep learning for visual intelligence, modelling the visual information processing mechanisms in the brain. These brain-inspired algorithms are used for autonomous robot control and decision-making.

This research project was in collaboration with PhD student William McNally and Dr. Alexander Wong, Canada Research Chair in Artificial Intelligence and Medical Imaging, and supervised by Dr. John McPhee, Canada Research Chair in Biomechatronic System Dynamics. All four researchers are members of the Waterloo Artificial Intelligence Institute.
