Research by PhD student Brok Laschowski was featured by Jensen Huang, President and CEO of NVIDIA, in his keynote talk at the 2021 GPU Technology Conference (GTC). Brok's PhD research focuses on deep learning for egocentric vision, modelling the visual information processing neural networks in the brain. These brain-inspired algorithms are used for environment-adaptive control of robotic systems.

For more information, see Brok's journal paper "Environment classification for robotic leg prostheses and exoskeletons using deep convolutional neural networks" published in the Frontiers in Neurorobotics.

This study was in collaboration with PhD student William McNally and Dr. Alexander Wong, Canada Research Chair in Artificial Intelligence and Medical Imaging, and supervised by Dr. John McPhee, Canada Research Chair in Biomechatronic System Dynamics.
