Research by PhD student Brok Laschowski was featured in a keynote talk by the President and CEO of NVIDIA. Brok’s research focuses on deep learning for visual intelligence, modelling the visual information processing neural networks in the brain. These brain-inspired algorithms are used for autonomous robot control.

For more infomation, see "Environment classification for robotic leg prostheses and exoskeletons using deep convolutional neural networks" published in the Frontiers in Neurorobotics.

This research was in collaboration with PhD student William McNally and Dr. Alexander Wong, Canada Research Chair in Artificial Intelligence and Medical Imaging, and supervised by Dr. John McPhee, Canada Research Chair in Biomechatronic System Dynamics.
