Research led by PhD student Brok Laschowski was featured on BBC. Brok’s research focuses on deep learning for visual intelligence, drawing inspiration from visual information processing in the brain. These machine learning algorithms are used for autonomous robot perception, control, and decision-making.

This research project is conducted in collaboration with PhD student William McNally and Dr. Alexander Wong, Canada Research Chair in Artificial Intelligence and Medical Imaging, and is supervised by Dr. John McPhee, Canada Research Chair in Biomechatronic System Dynamics. All four researchers are members of the Waterloo Artificial Intelligence Institute.
