Welcome Back Ben!
Ben has come back to Waterloo and joined the NSERC Alliance collaboration with deutraMed to work on deuteration of small molecule organics.
Welcome back to the group!

Welcome back to the group!
This collaboration with deutraMed Inc. aims to develop new syntheses for different deuterated small-molecule organics, and develop the analytical techniques for assessing the incorporation of deuterium into these molecules. Together, they will also work towards reducing the amount of energy needed in the manufacturing process and recovering deuterated waste streams for purification and reuse, to reduce the environmental impact of this research and development.
This fall we are joined by four new Chem494 thesis project students: Eleanor, Audrey, Lydia and Carina.
Welcome all!
Carlee was a UWaterloo BSc student, and she decided to join the group to work on iodonium ylides.
Welcome!
The end of the semester bring the end of the coop term for Tess and Elin. Thank you very much for all your effort this past semester, and best of luck in your coming semester.
Congratulations Islam on successfully defending you MSc thesis! You have done a tremendous amout of work on new iodonium ylide reactions, and you should be very proud.
We wish you all the best!!!
Graham won the 2021 Fagnou Award from the CSC. This presented to a scientist residing in Canada who has made a distinguished contribution to organic chemistry in Canada.
Graham would like to thank all the students and collaborators from the last decade. It is their work that is being recognized with this award.

Ben has joined the group for his BSc thesis project. He is working with Islam on the development of cyclic iodonium ylides.
Welcome!
Elin and Tess are our new junior coop students.
It's going to be a fun semester of organic chemistry, socially-distanced, of course.
The 3rd HVIVS was a big success, with great talks given by Drs. Olofsson and Wirth. Congrats again to Avery and Fabio for orgnaizing this excellent event!
